No Less Than My Mother

Representational Picture

She was beautiful

Like the garden’s white lily

Her voice was like the nightingale

casting forth her melody

Every time she was there for me

She loved me, advised me

She was no less than my mother

Whenever she caught me upset

She hugged me

And served me with her warmth.

She was a friend too

In my ups and downs, she cared for me

She was always there to hold my hand

She gave me the happiness I deserved

She would always make me feel special.

One day she went away

But not before she had taught me how to live alone

She was my guide my beloved Nasreen ma’am

Winner of this month’s teenage writing competition.
