Mensa: a society of intellectuals

Mensa is a round-table organization, where members work together irrespective of color, creed, national origin, age, politics, and educational or social background.

The high IQ society, Mensa, provides a comprehensive podium for intellectual exchange among its members. Currently, there are around 134,000 Mensans in 100 countries throughout the world. The ideas are being exchanged through lectures, discussions, Journals, special-interest groups and local, regional, national and international gathering.

Mensa organization is not limited to any particular profession. Anyone who wish join Mensa has to qualify supervised IQ test or other approved intelligence test with standardized percentile.

With an aim to form a society for bright people, Roland Berrill, a barrister and a Scientist cum lawyer, Dr. Lance founded Mensa in October 1946 in England.

Mensa societies have members with different professions including Professors, Truck Drivers, Scientists, Firefighters, Computer Programmers, Farmers, Artists, Soldiers, Musicians, Laborers, Police Officers etcetera. Mensa’s membership age ranges from 2 to more than 100 years, but most of the members are between 20 and 60 years.

Mensa a non-profit organization has three stated purposes: to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity, to encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence, and to promote stimulating intellectual and social opportunities for its members.

Recently, on January 27, 2018, 10-year-old Indian origin boy Mehul Garg, in United Kingdom became the youngest applicant to achieve highest score in Mensa IQ Test, beating the geniuses like Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.
