Every year Global Peace Index (GPI) ranks 163 independent countries according to their levels of peacefulness.
As per latest index, Iceland is the most peaceful country, a position it held since 2008. Iceland is followed by New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, and Denmark.
India has been ranked 137th position while Pakistan earned 154th. Among countries that occupy the bottom position are Afghanistan, Iraq, South Sudan, and Yemen. The worn torn Syria was declared as the least peaceful countries.
