As per the World Health Organization (WHO), the air is growing dangerously polluted and it kills 7 million people every year.
Health Effects of Air Pollution:
Air pollution is all around us and no one can escape it. Microscopic pollutants in the air can sip past our body’s defences, penetrating deep into our respiratory and circulatory system, damaging our lungs and other respiratory organs.
The health effects of air pollution are serious. One out of three deaths from stroke, lung cancer and heart disease caused due to air pollution. This is an equivalent to that of smoking and much than the effects of eating too much.
The lack of visible smog is no indication that air is healthy. Across the cities and villages are seeing air pollution exceed the average annual values recommended by WHO’s air quality guidelines.
Main Air Pollutant:
PM, a mix of solid and liquid droplets from fuel combustion and road traffic.
Nitrogen dioxide from road traffic or indoor gas cookers.
Sulphur dioxide from burning fossil fuels.
