Ather Zia is a poet and an anthropologist. She also writes short fiction. Ather is an Assistant Professor in Anthropology and Gender Studies at University of Northern Colorado Greeley. She has also founded and edits a cool online journal on Kashmir called Kashmir Lit (www.kashmirlit.org). Her early schooling was done in Presentation Convent High School. She got her Bachelors and Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism from Kashmir University. In the US, she got a Masters in Communication from California State University Fullerton and a doctorate from University of California Irvine.
