August is the National Water Quality Month

Representational Picture

To remind the activities and standards that support the preservation of water quality, the month of August is recognized as the ‘National Water Quality Month’. Previously, the United Nations has also designated 2005-2015 as an International Decade for Action “Water for Life,” in an effort to inspire conservation and sustainability efforts around the world.

Freshwater makes up only 3% of Earth’s water, but all humans, as well as most plants and animals, rely on it for survival. The water we use includes bathing, cleaning, household waste, and drinking water.

So, National Water Quality Month was founded to educate consumers about the importance of clean water.
