On Monday the Government Fee Fixation Committee (GFFC) allowed private schools to hike annual fee by 6 per cent.
“The private schools may raise their fee structure annually by not more than 6 per cent on the fee structure existing as on August 1, 2018,” GFFC order reads.
“The enhancement in the fee structure should not be exorbitant and abrupt but reasonable and gradual and commensurate with the expenditure and the school should not indulge in profiteering.”
The committee has asked private schools to publish their current fee structure and the one that existed on August 1, 2014, and to put their fee structure in the public domain.
The schools have also to mail their fee structure to the concerned CEOs and Director of School Education in the province concerned.
Earlier, the private schools in Kashmir have approached the government seeking permission to enhance the fee structure of their schools.
