When the aspiring candidates of National Eligibility Test 2018 (UGC) downloaded their admit card from the official website they were shocked to see their designated exam centres outside the state.
Expressing resentment over the National Testing Agency (NTA), students said it would be difficult for them to sit in NET exams scheduled to be held in December.
“Our valley is known for harsh winters. Anytime in winter’s roads can get blocked. I wonder how they designated our centres outside,” Umar Bashir, a NET candidate said. “Besides, we can’t spend 10,000 to 20,000 on an air ticket to sit in NET exams.”
The candidates said they have prioritised their exam centres in Baramulla and Srinagar district and had given an alternate option for their centre in Jammu and Kathua.
Most of the students have their exam centres in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
“We request the concerned official to designate our centres in Srinagar or Baramulla,” a candidate said.
