World Toilet Day 2018: History and Importance of This Day

Representational Picture

Every year 19th November is observed as the World Toilet Day. It was established by the World Toilet Organization in 2001 and after twelve years, the UN General Assembly declared Worlds Toilet Day an official UN day in 2013.

The main aim behind this day is to tackle the global sanitation crisis and to inform, engage and inspire people to take action toward achieving this goal.

This year’s campaign is based on the following narrative: “When nature calls, we need a toilet. We must build toilets and sanitation systems that work in harmony with ecosystems.”
