ALE (Astro Live Experience), a Japanese firm claimed to produce artificial shooting stars that light over Japan in 2020.

While addressing the news conference ALE chief executive Lena Okajima said, “we are in the final stages of building two micro-satellites – each programmed to carry and release 400 tiny pellets anywhere, anytime and in any color.”

These pellets will burn as they enter the atmosphere, creating a glow bright enough to be seen from Earth and will release a sufficient brightness to be visible by people in an area up to 200 km in diameter.

“We expect to launch the first satellite by Japan’s space agency by March next year, and the second in mid-2019 on a private-sector rocket,” ALE Chief added.

The satellites will be orbiting the planet by February 2020, with a view to delivering a meteor shower over Hiroshima same year in the spring.
